Breaking the last taboo!

What everybody is talking about but nobody admits!

Three Londoners, from different ethnic backgrounds, fall in love with each other. Can such a relationship survive in a world designed for couples?

How do others, including their parents, react to it? How is a child who has ‘two mums’ affected? What happens when a tragedy strikes? A mosaic of this unusual relationship unfolds in a gripping and fast paced narrative.

  1. PUB PSYCHOLOGY WORKSHOP
    When: Tuesday, 28.04.2014 at 7pm
Where: Antelope Pub 24 Eaton Terrace SW1W 8EZ, London (upstairs)

Bring your own topic or issue to discuss. This is your chance to ask about whatever you would like to know related to psychology (and just about everything relates to psychology!)! The topics can be but do not need to be personal (and you certainly won’t be asked to reveal anything private). We aim to cover about three issues/topics per session. See you there!

A famous Latino-American writer Paulo Cuelho writes: ‘It is better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all.’ But why? Why does love matter? And what it is, anyway? If you think you know, think again! And then, come this Tuesday to Pub Psychology and discuss it with us..

PUB PSYCHOLOGY SESSION: THE FUTURE OF INTIMACY

No doubt that intimate relationships have always played an important part in the history of humankind. But is there a particular type of intimacy that is the best and if so do we know what it is? Or perhaps the nature of intimate relationships is changing too in the ever changing world? Come along this Tuesday to discuss the future of intimacy with Dr Nash Popovic. This session will include PowerPoint slides.

    INDIVIDUALITY AND INFLUENCE

Individuality and influence are uneasy bed fellows. We all have individuality but also we all influence each other. In this session we will consider: how to give constructive feedback and influence others without alienating them; how to preserve individuality and yet remain open to learn from others; how to discriminate between good and bad influences and much more. Hope see you there, but be warned – you may be influenced :) . This session will include a slides presentation.

Pub Psychology debate: Does Self-help work?

Self-help is a big industry. I bet you’ve read at least one self-help book or/and attended one self-help talk or course. It has become part of our culture. Yet, In 2005 Steve Salerno portrayed the American self-help movement not only as ineffective in achieving its goals, but also as socially harmful. What do you think? What is your experience with self-help? Has anything from that field changed your life for the better or you have lost faith in it? Come along and share your thought and feelings in this respect or, if you prefer, just learn from the experiences of others.

  7. CHRISTMAS PARTY!

We will eat, drink and be merry! Also we would like to talk a bit about Pub Psychology too. We would like to hear what you think about PP, and anything (big or small) that you may have got out of our meetings. We are all volunteers and we need your feedback to keep going. So, if you think that this initiative is worthwhile, come along and share it with us. Also, if you have any suggestions how to improve it or make it more relevant – or if you would like to be more involved in one way or another this is the time to say so. In any case, we are looking forward to seeing you!

The debate will start with defining the unconscious and proceed with the support for and against such a notion. 10. 10 September (Tuesday) in Pub Psychology: NIC MALCOMSON: CHALLENGING CONVERSATIONS AND HOW TO HANDLE THEM
The Antelope pub, 22-24 Eaton Terrace, London, SW1W 8EZ
Our ability to manage challenging conversations can have a huge impact on our personal and professional relationships. What kind of conversations do you find challenging? What do you do when the going gets tough? Do you attack, run away, or manage to achieve a constructive outcome? This will be an interactive session led by Nic Malcomson. Nic is a coach and positive psychologist, who has a long-standing fascination with how to turn potentially destructive conversations into constructive ones. In Pub Psychology, throughout the years, we too have had a fair share of challenging conversations, so we are really looking forward to this session :)

    • I have never sat down and read the whole thing. I think when I finally find my guy I woludn’t really be down with the polyamorous thing. I am not a jealus girl but I would be a mess if I watched a guy I love have sex with someone else. The idea for the post was just about how I conduct myself inside and outside of a committed relationship.

  11. Hi there, i read your blog occasionally and i own a similar one and i
was just curious if you get a lot of spam responses?
If so how do you protect against it, any plugin or anything you
can suggest? I get so much lately it’s driving me insane so any assistance is very much appreciated.

  12. This book has given me a brand new perspective on love and relationships, which I have never considered before. It shows us how the traditional institution of marriage might evolve in future, providing a glimpse of a change which is urgently needed. All I can say is – Thank you!
